Application Process

All applications are submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Information regarding ERAS can be found on the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) website. The website address is Applicants start applying to ACGME-accredited residency programs only on September 6, 2016. Interviews will be held on selected Thursdays and Fridays in October, November, December, and January.


Travel and Lodging

Travel to and from Pittsburgh will be the applicant’s responsibility. The department will provide one night’s lodging the evening before your interview. Hotel information and room confirmation number will be sent to each applicant scheduled to interview approximately one week prior to the interview date along with an agenda for the interview day. Breakfast will be provided at the start of the interview day before the Program Director’s Informational Presentation.


There is a dinner with the residents the evening before the interview day that starts at 6:30pm. The interview day starts at 8am and is completed no later than 4pm. For those applicants who will be flying, it takes approximately 45 minutes to get from the airport to the hotel.
