Biography

Valerie R. Suski, DO, is the newest member of the Comprehensive Movement Disorders Clinic.  She received her medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and joined the group after completing her neurology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia and a Movement Disorders fellowship at Duke University.

Dr. Suski’s training emphasized deep brain stimulation, botulinum toxin therapy and clinical trials.  She evaluates patients with Parkinson's disease, essential tremors and dystonia and finds suitable candidates for surgery.  Afterwards, she follows the patients post-operatively, programming their stimulators and managing their care.  She has an interest in the use of botulinum toxin therapy for dystonias (i.e. blepharospasms, Meige's syndrome), essential tremors and sialorrhea.  She also evaluates patients to see if they are candidates for the Comprehensive Movement Disorders Clinic's clinical trials.

She is an active member of the Movement Disorders Division through her participation in the outpatient patient clinics, UPMC Presbyterian inpatient neurology residency training and her outreach activities include lecturing to the local Parkinson's disease support groups in Western Pennsylvania.
