Neurologist Position Opportunities

The University of Pittsburgh and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center offer several exciting opportunities for BC/BE neurologists. Candidates must be qualified for medical licensure in the state of Pennsylvania; fellowship training or clinical experience in the specialist fields is desirable. Faculty rank is dependent upon academic credentials for faculty appointment at the University of Pittsburgh. There is a close relationship with the Pittsburgh VA Health System.

Position responsibilities include teaching, outpatient and inpatient care, research and administrative duties. There are ample opportunities for development of specialized programs in the department and medical center, including the Pittsburgh Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases, the UPMC Stroke Institute, the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition and the Center for Neurosciences of the University of Pittsburgh.

We seek candidates for the following positions:

Clinical Parkinson’s Disease/Movement Disorder Specialist

A neurologist interested in the clinical care of people with Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders to join an active group of 5 movement disorders specialists. Candidates should have fellowship training and experience in movement disorders, including functional neurosurgery (DBS). Interests in teaching, clinical research and therapeutic trials are desirable. Exciting opportunities for collaboration with translational neuroscientists.

Epilepsy Specialist

An epileptologist is sought at the assistant to associate professor level. Candidates require expertise in electroencephalography, CCTV/EEG monitoring, and the medical and surgical management of patients with difficult to control seizures. Available facilities and services include a dedicated inpatient epilepsy monitoring unit, extensive EEG facilities, multimodality neuroimaging (including MRI, fMRI, PET, ictal SPECT, and a new whole-head MEG facility), and a multidisciplinary treatment team. Candidates with interests in either clinical or basic science epilepsy research are encouraged to apply.

Multiple Sclerosis Specialist

A neurologist with an interest in the clinical care of people with MS and other CNS immune-mediated diseases. The position will also involve clinical research and teaching. The department has a large referral base and excellent National MS Society support.

Stroke Specialist

The UPMC Stroke Institute offers an active clinical stroke service, acute stroke management and endovascular therapy, acute stroke clinical trial programs, a strong stroke and endovascular neurology fellowship program and a strong basic science stroke research program. Affiliation with the VA Geriatric Research, Educational and Clinical Center, which focuses on cerebrovascular disease, is possible for this position.
