Neurologist Position Opportunities

The University of Pittsburgh and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center offer several exciting opportunities for BC/BE neurologists. Candidates must be qualified for medical licensure in the state of Pennsylvania; fellowship training or clinical experience in the specialist fields is desirable. Faculty rank is dependent upon academic credentials for faculty appointment at the University of Pittsburgh. There is a close relationship with the Pittsburgh VA Health System.

Position responsibilities include teaching, outpatient and inpatient care, research and administrative duties. There are ample opportunities for development of specialized programs in the department and medical center, including the Pittsburgh Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases, the UPMC Stroke Institute, the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition and the Center for Neurosciences of the University of Pittsburgh.

NeuroCritical Care

The Departments of Neurology and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center are seeking neurologists with training in neurocritical care for a unique interdepartmental opportunity at a leading academic medical center. The Neurology department incorporates an active inpatient referral service and a busy stroke service including stroke interventions, hemorrhages, aneurysms and vascular malformations. Critical Care Medicine is a large interdisciplinary department responsible for ICU coverage throughout UPMC. Clinical service responsibilities will include providing patient care coverage on a 20 bed neurocritical care unit. Interest or experience in either basic or clinical research related to neurocritical care is desirable.

Neuromuscular/EMG Specialist

The University of Pittsburgh and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center are offering an exciting opportunity for BC/BE neurologists at the rank of Assistant Professor, non-tenure track; actual rank will depend on academic credentials and experience. Responsibilities are primarily EMG, outpatient neuromuscular diseases and general Neurology, and teaching residents and Clinical Neurophysiology fellows. We have a full array of electrodiagnostic testing services including autonomic testing, an MDA clinic and MDA-ALS Center, a large referral network, and expanding community affiliations. Candidates should be certified or eligible for certification for “Added Qualifications in Clinical Neurophysiology”. Candidates must be qualified for medical licensure in the state Pennsylvania and meet the requirements necessary for a faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh.

Headache Specialist

The Department of Neurology is actively recruiting a neurologist with an interest in a full-time clinical and research career in the field of headache medicine.  Our group is gifted with a large referral base providing access to hundreds of new headache referrals each month providing an incredible opportunity for specialized clinical care and extensive clinical research.

Multiple Sclerosis Specialist

A neurologist is sought with an interest in multiple sclerosis and other CNS immune-mediated diseases. The position will also involve clinical research and teaching.  The department has a large referral base and excellent National MS Society support. Candidates must be qualified for medical licensure in the state of Pennsylvania and meet the requirements necessary for a faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh. Faculty rank for this non-tenure position will depend on experience and academic credentials.

Stroke Specialist

The University of Pittsburgh and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center are offering an exciting opportunity in the UPMC Stoke Institute for BC/BE neurologists who have completed a vascular neurology fellowship. Candidates must be qualified for medical licensure in the state of Pennsylvania and meet the requirements necessary for a faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh.  Faculty rank will depend on experience and academic credentials.

Position responsibilities include teaching, outpatient and inpatient care, research and administrative duties.  The UPMC Stroke Institute offers an active inpatient clinical stroke service focused on acute stroke management.  We also have a well established neuro-interventional therapy program, acute stroke clinical trial programs, a system-wide telemedicine program for the assessment and treatment of acute stroke and offer both vascular neurology and endovascular neurology fellowship programs. 

Behavioral Neurology

The Department is seeking full-time clinical neurologists with expertise in Alzheimer’s and other degenerative diseases for patient care in the Department of Neurology. Candidates must be qualified for medical licensure in the state of Pennsylvania; fellowship training or clinical experience in the specialist fields is desirable. Opportunities for research are available in multiple centers of excellence at the University of Pittsburgh. Faculty rank is dependent upon academic credentials for faculty appointment at the University of Pittsburgh.

General Neurologist

The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC are seeking BC/BE neurologists to join our rapidly expanding General Neurology Division. Our general neurologists are part of a neurology-specific practice with admitting privileges to the largest hospital system in Pennsylvania. Patients are seen for initial evaluation; if necessary they can be referred department sub-specialists for cognitive and behavioral issues, movement disorders, headache, stroke, neuromuscular diseases, neuro-oncology, epilepsy or neuroimmunology. Physicians are supported by a full complement of PA, RN and MA professionals and the latest electronic records systems. The collegial atmosphere encourages communication between practitioners and staff. Multiple Sclerosis Researcher

The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Department of Neurology MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS RESEARCHER

The University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurology and UPMC have an exciting opportunity for an established MD or PhD investigator in Multiple Sclerosis to join our expanding organization. We seek an individual with a proven track record of research, publication and funding in MS. We have dedicated funding to develop this program and seek to complement our thriving comprehensive clinical MS program. We have state-of-the-art laboratory and clinical facilities, excellent support staff, a modern system-wide electronic medical record system, and scientists in related disciplines. This is a full time, tenure stream position. Faculty rank is dependent upon academic credentials for faculty appointment at the University of Pittsburgh. Physician candidates will also provide some patient care and teaching in the clinic. Physicians must be qualified for medical licensure in Pennsylvania and all applicants must meet the requirements necessary for a faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh.
